ADA Year End Awards Information

The following terms apply to all ADA Year End Awards:

 

  • In order for a score to be considered in the averaging, both the owner and the rider of the horse must have paid their ADA dues before the score was earned.
  • All scores used in the calculations were earned at USDF/USEF open recognized shows held in the state of Arizona between January 1 and December 1:

    TDC Winter Heat
    TDC March Madness
    ADA Spring Celebration
    Coconino Dressage Show
    Mountain Air Dressage
    Dressage in the Pines
    ADA Fall Fiesta
    TDC Fall Festival

  • Arizona State Championship scores are not included. Nor are Region 5 scores.
  • Except for the Freestyle Award itself, no freestyle scores are included.
  • Scores from these classes are not included: Introductory A, Introductory B, FEI Young Horse (5 yo), FEI Young Horse (6 yo), Dressage Seat Equitation, Suitable to Become a Dressage Horse, and Para Dressage.
  • FEI Junior and FEI Young Rider scores are considered to be that of their regular test equivalents. (i.e., FEI Young Rider Team Test is equivalent to Fourth Level, Test 3.)
  • For Horse Awards, the horse may have had more than one rider.
  • For Rider Awards, the rider may have earned scores riding more than one horse.
  • For Rider Awards, the rider must be an ADA Individual Member or the Primary Member of an ADA Family Membership.

 


ADA Year End Awards:

Year End Awards for Riders

Effective with the 2009 show year.

 

For each division there is one award for:

  • Training, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th levels. 
  • For Prix St Georges / Intermediare I combined, and
  • For Intermediare II / Grand Prix combined. 

To be eligible for the Year End Rider Awards, a rider must be an Individual ADA member. 

As with all of the ADA Year End Awards, scores count only after both the rider and the owner of the horse have paid their current ADA dues.

Riders may earn scores riding more than one horse at the given level.

 

In order to qualify for the ADA Year End Riders of the Year standings, the following requirements must be met:

  • 4 scores must be earned at a given level.
  • 3 of the 4 scores must be earned at 3 different shows.
  • 3 of the 4 scores must be earned under 3 different judges.
  • For Training through 4th Levels, at least one of the scores must be from the highest test of the level.
  • The average of the 4 scores used must be equal to or greater than the current AZ State Championship qualifying scores.  The 2009 AZ qualifying scores are  listed below:

There is no restriction concerning the number of times a rider can win this award at the same level.

This set of rewards replaces both the “Riders - By Level” and the “Riders - All Levels Combined” Year End Awards.

 

 

Horses of the Year – Training through Fourth
At  each Level - Calculated using:

  • Average of 3 Highest Scores
  • Earned under 3 different judges
  • From 3 different shows
  • At least one score must be from the highest test of the level

FEI Horse of the Year
Calculated using:

  • Average of 3 Highest FEI level Scores
  • Earned under 3 different judges
  • From  3 different shows

Freestyle Horse/Rider Combination
Calculated using:

  • Average of 3 Highest freestyle scores as horse/rider pair
  • Earned under 3 different judges
  • From  3 different shows

Freestyle scores from Levels 1 through 4 are combined.
Freestyle scores for Prix St. Georges, Intermediare and Grand Prix are combined.

 

Cameo Award
Horse must have been ridden and trained by an Arizona resident since 2nd level.  Training history must be on file with Awards Chairman.
Calculated using:

  • Average of 3 Highest FEI level Scores
  • Earned under 3 different judges

Sandra Kale Award
Horse must be an Arabian or Half Arabian.
Copy of registration papers must be on file with Awards Chairman.

Calculated using:

    • Average of 4 Highest freestyle scores earned at 1st Level or above
    • Earned under at least 3 different judges
